Plastic color matching is part art, part science.

Our expert lab team uses the latest spectrophotometric technology for color matching — but there is no substitute for a trained eye and a feel for how colors work together.

 

Plastic Color Matching Process

You send us a sample of your custom color or choose from previously formulated colors.

Suggested sample formats include:

  • Concentrate
  • Final product
  • Paper
  • Paint
  • Pantone color number
  • Film
  • Other materials

Upon receiving your sample, we take spectrophotometric readings to generate a starting formula for the color.

We select pigments using the application requirements you specify. Please provide the following information on your final product:

  • Application
  • Base resin
  • Whether the product needs FDA approval
  • Requested lifetime of the part if exposed to sunlight
  • The production process, including typical heat the product will be processed under
  • Part thickness
  • Let down ratio
  • Color tolerance
  • Whether spectrophotometric (Delta E tolerances) readings are required

We produce an initial sample run and compare it to the sample through visual and spectrophotometric analysis.

Once we achieve a final color match, we provide:

  • Sample color chips
  • SDS
  • FDA certification letter (if applicable)
  • 5 to 10 lb sample (if requested)
